Students in a fall 2020 honors course were instructed to design a solution for a wicked problem of the world. One team chose to tackle low voter turnout among young people, and coalesced around a Political Participation Day to take place every November General Election at ECU. The team prepared a proposal for their Student Government Association, eventually securing support from the body in the form of a resolution. Election Day now appears as Civic Engagement Day on ECU’s academic calendar.
